Linty

Linty is a free, open-source dictation tool for Mac. Hold Right ⌘ or a chosen key, speak, and release. Linty transcribes on your Mac and pastes the text at your cursor in any app. Speech recognition runs on-device, so dictation works offline after a one-time model download. Audio and transcripts stay on your Mac. There’s no account, API key, or subscription. Dictations are saved locally so you can search, edit, and copy them later. A personal dictionary keeps names and terms correct, and the Overview tracks words dictated and time saved. It supports 100 languages with optional on-device English cleanup for grammar, punctuation, and lists. Requires macOS 14+ on Apple silicon or Intel.
